When: May 12th - 13th 2012
Where: Global - Senegal
What: World Migratory Bird Day is a global awareness-raising campaign highlighting the need for the protection of migratory birds and their habitats. People around the world take action and organise public events such as bird festivals, education programmes and birdwatching excursions.
World Migratory Birds Day will be celebrated in Dakar over the weekend of 12-13 May. Even in a vibrant capital city, there is much to observe and discover about bird migration. In the spring of 2011 it was noticed for the first time that roseate terns (pictured) passed through the city's Baie de N'Gor in internationally important numbers. Come and learn more about how your observations could contribute in elucidating migration, and so better protect the migrating birds.
